RIA, brokerage, custody & private funds
Public markets: I built a custodial and brokerage platform for independent RIAs from an empty repository — digital account opening, funding, trading, clearing on Apex and DriveWealth, rebalancing, fractional shares and reporting. I built the rails, not an integration on top of someone else's. Private markets: technology leadership at a private-placement firm investing into private funds, where the hard problems are investor reporting, risk visibility and operational control.
Altruist is now a $1.9B company. Took it through its SOC 1 audit. Cut operating cost 50% at Equi in under two months.
Money movement inside real regulatory constraints
Consumer lending, payment orchestration and fraud — built inside the rules rather than around them. I've owned security architecture for a lending platform in India, contained fraud at a ticketing platform with throttling and detection plans that saved real money, and founded a fintech super app spanning banking, lending and investment.

AI that stays correct, stays affordable, and fails loudly
Not demos — production systems. An AI-native memory backend that captures, tags and retrieves so an assistant can proactively surface what matters; an AI-first rebuild that turned a non-functional app into a feature-complete product; and AI adoption across an engineering org to speed up development, debugging, monitoring and alerting. The hard engineering is trust: extraction that doesn't mislabel, retrieval that scales, agents that fail loudly.
Memory + proactive surfacing shipped at Hey Emmy. AI-driven engineering rolled out across Afton's org.
Products that scale on both sides of the buyer
From a consumer-and-enterprise ticketing platform running $100M+ in annual sales, to a 100+ person product and engineering organization, to a consumer education platform through its IPO — I've built and scaled software where the same system has to delight a consumer and satisfy an enterprise buyer at once.
Monolith → modular at Afton with 40% better burn efficiency. Full development-team management across consumer and enterprise surfaces.
Content delivery & digital publishing, from founding to IPO
The sixth employee at Chegg, I scaled with the company from Series A through its IPO and beyond — to 800+ people — running a 100+ engineering org across four countries and rebuilding a Drupal monolith into a service architecture. The digital reading and content-delivery work produced six US patents; and along the way I supported technical due diligence on 7+ acquisitions.

Consumer & SMB legal, with compliance delivered end to end
As CTO at Rocket Lawyer I ran technology, product and program management for a 100+ person organization serving consumers and small businesses, delivered GDPR compliance end to end, and refocused the roadmap on the product lines that actually drove revenue.
